Sedation
Do you have a low tolerance to pain or are you too afraid to visit a dentist? At Cypress Dental, we understand that dental anxiety is very common and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible while getting your treatment completed.
Dental phobia can gradually result in the loss of teeth since they go unevaluated and untreated. Don’t allow the fear of dental work to hinder you from maintaining your beautiful teeth.
Sedation dentistry allows the dentist to transform your teeth without anxiety or discomfort. Oral sedatives are used to help patients be in a more calm and relaxed state and for some be able to forget they even had treatment performed. While on the sedative, a friend or family member will need to escort you to and from the dental appointment. After treatment, the sedation gradually wears off during the course of the day. Patients typically able to resume their normal activities within 24 hours.
If you have any questions or concerns about sedation dentistry, feel free to contact us.

Single Tooth Extraction
At Cypress Dental, we strive to provide conservative treatment options and preserve natural dentition, but there are many reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted. This includes, but is not limited to severe trauma, decay, infection, or in preparation for the placement of orthodontic devices. Our team is experienced with extractions including extractions for children, and it is our goal to make sure the whole process is as comfortable as possible.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Third molars, also called wisdom teeth, are the last set of permanent teeth to erupt in a person's mouth and are the ones least needed. Most dental professionals recommend that wisdom teeth be removed early before complications can occur. When your jaw is too small to accommodate normal wisdom teeth, it is common to have gum or jaw discomfort and swelling to occur. There are times when a patient’s jaw is large enough to accommodate wisdom teeth but due to the location of the teeth, it is often missed while patients are brushing and result in severe decay.
Surgery to remove wisdom teeth is typically the best course of action. If a wisdom tooth has fully erupted through the gum, a standard tooth extraction is performed. If the tooth has not erupted through the gum, an impacted tooth extraction method is used. Dr. Chien uses various techniques that can help keep her patients comfortable, minimize post-op discomfort and swelling, and accelerate healing of the extraction site.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are an effective long term solution for replacing missing or failing teeth because they look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Dental implants are made with medical grade titanium that are placed into the bone as an artificial root, this helps preserve the integrity of your bone structure. Over time the implant fuses to the bone allowing for a strong durable anchor for your new teeth. Usually 3-6 months after your implant surgery, a custom fitted prosthetic crown will be made to replace the missing tooth in the mouth.
Dental implants typically have three parts:
- The implant: a screw that serves the root for your new teeth. This is what will permanently integrate with your jaw bone
- The abutment: a connector that supports and holds the prosthetic tooth
- The crown: this is the part of the tooth you can see. It is usually made with zirconia or porcelain for durability and esthetics
At your consultation, we will discuss your treatment goals and options. This allows us to develop a preliminary treatment plan for your specific needs. We will provide you an estimate for the procedure cost and duration. The cost will include everything from start to finish to transform your smile, including:
- Pre procedure exam
- Procedure to place the implant and temporary teeth
- Creation of your custom prosthetic teeth
- Post procedure check ups and fitting of your custom prosthetic teeth
Ask us about our payment plan option to help you achieve your desired smile.

Bone Grafting
Bone grafting is an oral surgery procedure used to treat areas that have been affected by bone loss. Bone loss most commonly occurs in areas where teeth have been missing for an extended period of time or due to infection. With bone grafting, we have the ability to not only regenerate the missing bone but also promote new bone growth in that area.
